POD SanwildSanwild The current size of the reserve is just over six-thousand hectares. But the trustees are aiming at eventually increasing this habitat to 15 000 hectares. The goal is to ultimately incorporate adjoining farmlands to form an ecologically viable wildlife reserve to protect a unique wilderness area. And all the land acquired will fall under the protection of the sanwild Wildlife Trust for the use of, in perpetuity, all the wild animals. The visitor's camp is small and intimate. There is an open-air boma that leads off to beautiful gardens with a rock pool where guests can cool off during hot summer days. Evenings are spent in the boma where meals can be prepared next to a campfire. The camp is cleaned daily and a laundry service is provided at a nominal fee. Guided walking trails are done very early every morning in the predator free zone adjoining the larger reserve. Visitors can expect to see many animal this time of the morning as it is usually still quite cool Optional day or over-night trips to other tourist destinations like the Kruger National Park, Mojadji Cycad Reserve, Cherry gardens or local tea and coffee plantations can be arranged. By prior arrangement, helicopter flips to Blyde River Canyon can also be arranged. Profits generated from this tourist camp are applied on an equal basis for animal emergency rescues, resource management and the management of the wildlife rehabilitation center.
