Adventure, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia

Scaling escarpments, four-wheel driving, fishing in expansive billabongs and trekking through ancient lands lend any visit to Kakadu an element of adventure. You can really add to your experience by taking the adrenaline-pumping four-wheel drive tracks into Jim Jim and Twin Falls, to trek over boulders for a swim in the plunge pools and an impressive look up. Then, if you are keen for a challenging climb, complete the experience by heading off early in the morning to climb to the top of the escarpments. At the tops of both Jim Jim and Twin Falls you will be rewarded with sweeping views across the park that are both unmatched and personally rewarding. If it's the wetland scene you're after, join a cruise or fishing charter in Yellow Water Billabong or the East and South Alligator rivers. Acquaint yourself with the exotic birdlife, the daunting multitude of saltwater crocodiles, and, if you are lucky enough, the highly-sought barramundi.
