Adventure Tikal -A Day trip from Belize October 2005

Staying near the border of Guatemala while in Belize made a day trip to Tikal National Park the highlight of my Mayan Archaeological expeditions. It is if not the largest, it is one of the most excavated of all Mayan sites and is situated in Tikal National Forest -where Nature rules supreme. The Temples of Tikal are too many for one day but in 6 hours I covered enough ground to know I wanted to return someday. Tikal's Temple 1 is also host to a few famous and not so famous movie scenes.

The Roman Ruins of Volubilis, Morocco

www.TravelsWithSheila.com Not the best day for exploring the ruins of Volubilis from the 3rd century BC Rainy and Windy. Volubilis was an important Roman town with stunning mosaiacs (the rain brought out the intense colors), a vomitorium (I kid you not), along with other fun and "unusual relics" that you'll just have to watch the video to learn about. Volubilis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best preserved Roman ruins in northern Africa. An easy stop on the route between Meknes and Fes and worth seeing.

I also ended up with really bad poison ivy on my right arm.
